Care instructions
So you’ve got your bed, your dog loves it, but it needs a little freshening...
Can you wash it?
YES!
We wash test all of our cover fabrics to make sure if you need to clean it you can. That was one of our founding objectives after searching the market for 100% machine washable beds. Nobody needs a dog stank essential oil diffuser in their living room turning your home in to THAT DOG HOUSE.
Wash all covers on cold and gentle cycles with like colors and in the case of the first wash...possibly alone. We’ll leave that up to your laundry prowess ;). In the case of mexican blanket beds and blankets, you can soak first in water an a clear/light colored vinegar if you want to take that extra step to ensure color stay power.
But what about drying?
Upholstery fabrics are a definite no. Mexican blanket beds and blankets can be put in the dryer, but that’s really a preference thing. Bed covers will shrink a bit when you do this, but we have cut in a touch of extra space for shrinkage. If you’re not comfortable with putting them in the dryer on low, lay flat to dry. Denim covers can be washed, dried, rubbed, crumpled, and just about anything other than teeth and sharp objects are safe with these babes.
And let us reiterate...cold washing is always best, particularly with contrasting color combinations. The denim can take just about anything, but if you don’t want it to bleed onto the label, cold is best here too...at least for the first few washes.
And inserts too?
Yes. While I wouldn’t wash them more than every couple of months at most, you can definitely occasionally wash them to get rid of unwanted odors. BUT PLEASE, NO DRYERS! After washing, lay flat to dry and they’ll be ready to use again in no time. Our inserts are covered with a moisture wicked fabric that helps repel any spills or accidents, but they are not waterproof.
Happy cleaning!!
